  • Very bright tone issue with the neighbors, voicing can solve this.

the piano before voicing

The piano after voicing

A well made piano from Yamaha made with the Cable & Nelson name.

I would assume that with this piano, the production was very similar to a standard Yamaha. Only with a different badge. However, the quality of the final voicing is questionable if it was voiced. It may be that the more expensive Japanese Yamaha’s get the higher skilled finishing which really makes the voice of the piano optimal.

This is better than the cheaper Asian knock offs, and shows as the Essex pianos, that an Asian piano can be well made when supervised properly. However, it proves that the skilled ‘final touch’ of a generational technician adds a lot of extra value to an instrument.

If you find yourself with a bright Asian instrument, you may find voicing it will fix the harshness in most cases. And may be worth the investment.
